Update on the KRXQ-FM radio broadcast

June 13, 2009

"Rob, Arnie & Dawn in the Morning" radio show logoThe “Rob, Arnie & Dawn in the Morning” radio show on KRXQ-FM last Thursday, June 11, aired a two-and-a-half hour broadcast during which the presenters Rob Williams and Arnie States apologised for the transphobic remarks they voiced during their earlier show which aired on May 28th.

Also present during the recent broadcast were Kim Pearson (Executive Director of Trans Youth Family Allies) and Autumn Sandeen (trans advocate and regular contributor to Pam’s House Blend).

The program was uninterrupted by either adverts or music, and MP3 files of the show are available for direct download from here:

Several listeners rang in with questions and/or comments during the broadcast which, in addition to the long-awaited apologies from the presenters, provided a solid trans 101 foundation for the “Rob, Arnie & Dawn in the Morning” radio show to build on in the future.

GLAAD have since published a Media Release (link here), which includes statements by Kim Pearson and Autumn Sandeen; whilst Autumn’s own follow-up post at Pam’s House Blend is also well worth reading (link here).

let’s jus see how long this change of heart lasts. methinks in a week or a month that RAD will be right back to their hateful transmisogynist shit.

i really don’t think that RAD are genuine about this – they are just nervous b/c of al the sponsors that pulled their advertising.
