Hard-wired

June 18, 2008

Via Zöe comes news of a Swedish study which seems to suggest “the biological factors that influence sexual orientation – such as exposure to testosterone in the womb – may also shape the brain’s anatomy”.

Although, as Zöe reminds us, sexual orientation and gender identity are different, there does seem to be a slow but convincing body of evidence accumulating to prove that both are innate; ie. not learned.

In other words, I was never anything but a woman.

As ever, Zöe’s writing is meticulous and very readable; her post BiGender and the Brain is here.
